Paris, March 15, 2026

Families from around the world share their experience.
My daughter waits for her letter every month with so much excitement! She has made incredible progress in French. The discovery sheets are perfect and the recipes have become our Sunday tradition.
As a French teacher, I recommend Lettres de France to all my students. The content is authentic, well-adapted to each level, and the cultural topics spark amazing discussions in class.
I love getting real mail! The letter about Provence was my favorite — and I actually made the lavender cookies recipe. Now I write French letters to my pen pal in Lyon!
Every letter is written with love, by someone who lives and breathes French culture.
I'm Nathalie, a French maman, born and raised in Paris, now living in the north of England with my family.
I used to teach French in primary and secondary schools, and I absolutely loved seeing that spark when a child understood a new word or finally got a tricky pronunciation right.
When I became a mum of three and started home educating my own children, I realised how hard it was to find French learning materials that felt real, not just old textbook exercises. I wanted something that brought the language and the culture to life. I wanted my children to have a real dive into French culture, as well as a good understanding of the language, but without having to spend hours hunched over grammar exercises. I wanted them to feel excitement rather than dread when learning the language, and be able to share with them all my childhood memories.
That's how Lettres de France was born. Every letter I write comes straight from the heart. I share the places I grew up exploring, the recipes my family has cooked for generations, the stories I heard growing up and all the little cultural details that make France so special.
I want your children to feel like they have a real French friend, writing to them, each month.
Everything you need to know about Lettres de France.
Our letters are written at A2/B1 level (CEFR). For complete beginners, we recommend starting with the 7-11 group which uses simpler language and lots of visual support. Parents or teachers can also use the discovery sheets as guided learning tools. Most children progress quickly with regular exposure!

Each month explores a different facet of French culture: gastronomy, French regions, history, art, holidays and traditions, nature, famous figures, daily life, music, cinema, and more. We carefully select topics that are engaging for young learners and provide a rich cultural context.
Yes! All audio recordings are made by native French speakers. For the 7-11 group, the reading is slower and more articulated. For the 12-18 group, the audio is at a natural conversational pace. This helps learners get used to authentic French pronunciation and rhythm.
